Weekday afternoons between about 2:30 and 3:30, the yellow flashing lights in front of The Covenant School on the Route 250 Bypass mean it's time to slow down to 25 miles per hour.
NBC29 cameras rolled as an officer on motorcycle pulled over car after car traveling well in excess of 25 mph.
Officer Troy Hunt with the Charlottesville Police Department said, "That's a large volume of traffic, and as much times as we are out there running speed enforcement, it still doesn't seem to help."
Charlottesville police say between late August last year and the beginning of May, they've handed out about 80 school zone speeding citations citywide.
In addition, the yellow flashing lights don't stop once the regular school calendar ends. They're also in effect for summer school.
