A grand opening party at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative Gallery in Belmont is for a different form of art wheeling through Charlottesville.
Friday, The Bridge is showcasing Ken Margolius' vintage bikes and some are even for sale. Margolius, a local bike enthusiast and collector partnered with The Bridge in Charlottesville to share his unique way of giving new life to old bikes.
Nearly all of the bikes, some European, some domestic, were found in states of deterioration. Not all models are for sale, but the total value of the show is $16,000.
Friends say Margolius pays close attention to every detail. Ross McDermott of The Bridge said, "You see everything's restored to a shining painted perfect surface - he likes to keep the raw elements in the bikes."
Margolius is so particular about the authenticity of the bikes that if the pedal doesn't match the time period, he doesn't use it.
The free exhibit will be open through May 28.
