Two Former Marines Cross Afton Mountain on Warrior Hike
Years of physical training in the Marine Corps has helped prepare two soldiers for a 2,000-mile hike.
Mark Silvers and Sean Gobin crossed Afton Mountain Tuesday, while walking the entire Appalachian Trail. They're raising money for "Warrior Hike."
It's an organization they established to help purchase accessible vehicles for disabled veterans. Their journey will take them just over four months.
"The Marine Corps did prepare us for the hardship," said Gobin. "Being uncomfortable, bad weather, hiking all day, living in harsh conditions. So that part of the Marine Corps definitely prepared us for the hike."
