An Augusta County man accused of shooting two dogs to death will not serve time behind bars.
A judge had certified a pair of felony animal cruelty charges against 47-year-old Christopher Scott Harris. He was set for a jury trial on Monday, but instead pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts.
Harris was given a $1,000 fine, but the judge suspended his jail time. The dogs belonged to two neighbors, and Harris said they had been chasing his horses.
