The UVA men's lacrosse team earned the #5 seed in this year's NCAA Tournament and will host Princeton Sunday afternoon at 1:00 in the first round. ESPN and ESPN3.com will broadcast the game.
The Cavaliers finished the season ranked #6 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll and #8 in the USILA Coaches poll.
The defending national champions are 4-3 at home this season, including a three-game losing streak at Klockner Stadium in their final three games at home.
Virginia, which was ranked #1 for much of the regular season, snapped a two-game losing streak with a 10-8 win over Penn in the Mile High Classic in Denver April 27.
Princeton is 11-4 this year and has won six NCAA titles in program history.
The Tigers are ranked tenth in the media poll and ninth in the coaches poll, winners of five of their last six games.
The 'Hoos and Tigers haven't met since 2008, a 12-10 UVA win at Princeton. Virginia is 13-10 all-time against the Tigers in a series dating back to 1948. The Cavs have never beaten Princeton in three all-time NCAA Tournament games.
UVA is making its 35th NCAA Tournament appearance and 19th in the last 20 seasons.
The Cavalier women's lacrosse team will face #7 seed Duke in Durham in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
Virginia won at Duke 14-12 March 24 during the regular season.
Both teams lost in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
The 'Hoos finished the season 11-7, ranked #8 in the Coaches poll and tied for 11th in the media poll.
The Cavaliers have played 12 teams ranked in the top 20 this year, including Duke, and have been ranked in the top 12 all season.
UVA has lost its last two games to #3 North Carolina and #1 Northwestern.
Virginia will be playing in its 17th straight NCAA Tournament (23rd overall), winning three titles in program history with a 29-21 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament.
