About 75 people gathered at CitySpace on the downtown mall Saturday night as Charlottesville's International Rescue Committee (IRC) put on its annual "We Rescue Lives - A Celebration of Refugee Youth" event.
Tickets were $100 per person to wine and dine for a cause. Young refugees who now call Charlottesville home shared their journey to the United States through song, dance, and stories.
Harriet Kuhr of the IRC said, "It's also a way for them to show a little bit of their home culture, where they came from as they try to blend the two together and mix their culture of origin with their new home here in America."
All proceeds will benefit the IRC's work in Charlottesville.
