Waynesboro has taken the wraps off its library renovation project.
The main entrance off 14th Street is back open and now leads to a spacious lobby and checkout area. A new internal staircase leads to genealogy and meeting rooms, and an internet cafe.
Crews are installing fixtures and furniture for the new children's library, which will be ready by the end of the month.
Waynesboro library director Zahir Mahmoud said, "It's just amazing the change that you see. It's been quite some time now that we have been waiting. It's an exciting day for us and for our staff. I think the patrons will like it and they will be excited."
Waynesboro's public library renovation cost about $1.8 million split between taxpayers and the "Friends of the Library." Grand opening is set for June 11.
