Artist Selected to Design Vinegar Hill Monument

A panel has selected a New York artist to design Charlottesville's Vinegar Hill monument. Nationally renowned sculptor Melvin Edwards will create the monument at the Jefferson School.

Edwards beat-out three other finalists who were also interested in the job. Vinegar Hill was a once thriving African American neighborhood that was destroyed to make way for economic development in the city.
