The UVA softball team beat North Carolina State 5-1 Sunday afternoon at The Park in its last ACC game of the regular season.
The Cavaliers (25-24, 8-13 ACC) won two-of-three games in the series against the Wolfpack.
Senior Giannina Cipolloni and sophomore Erica Cipolloni each scored two runs for Virginia Sunday.
Freshman Megan Harris went 2-for-3 with a run in the win.
Senior Kennedy Byxbee put the Wahoos on the board first with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to make it 2-0 UVA.
After NC State hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning, the Cavs responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, senior Alexa Martinez walked on four pitches. Erica Cipolloni, the next batter, was hit by a pitch to score another run.
In the fifth inning, the 'Hoos added another insurance run on a Wolfpack error.
Junior pitcher Melanie Mitchell (18-12) struck out ten and did not walk a batter, earning her seventh victory against an ACC team this season.
The 'Hoos will play their final game of the regular season Tuesday night at 5:00 against George Mason at The Park.
