Debbie Ryan entered the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

The former UVA head coach earned another distinguished honor Saturday night.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame inducted Ryan into its Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Portsmouth.

In her 33 seasons as head coach at Virginia, Ryan won 739 games, reaching the NCAA Tournament 24 times.

Ryan's Cavaliers made 12 Sweet 16s and three straight Final Fours in the early 1990s.

Ryan earned ACC Coach of the Year seven times, winning 14 ACC titles (eleven regular season crowns and three ACC Tournament championships).

She joins Antonio Freeman (former Virginia Tech wide receiver), Gerald Henderson (former VCU basketball player), Billy Wagner (Virginia native with 422 career Major League Baseball saves), Jess Kersey (former NBA referee), and Al Pearce (sports reporter for the Daily Press) in the 41st class of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

Ryan said, "I'm probably most proud of how successful my players have been over the years, and exactly what they're doing now. They're all really productive citizens, and they're great people. I've just really been very proud to be a small part of their lives."
