UPDATE 05/02/12:  Albemarle Police say there were 61 arrests made during the Foxfield Spring Horse Races.  Most of the arrests were for public intoxication.  Other arrests were for having fake IDs and underage possession of alcohol.  Another 37 summonses were issued for various motor vehicle infractions, most of which were related to state inspection and seatbelt violations.

Original:  Police were on patrol Saturday to make sure the partiers who packed into the Foxfield Spring Horse Races didn't get out of control.

More than 25,000 people tailgated and lined the track in Albemarle County Saturday afternoon. Officers from across central Virginia made sure everyone enjoyed themselves in a legal and responsible manner. As of 5:00 Saturday night, Albemarle County police reported just 10 arrests at Foxfield.

Sergeant Darrell Byers said, "Obviously we're concerned about the over consumption of alcohol so we will be closely monitoring those that seem like they may be getting out of control because they have consumed too much alcohol."

Last year, more than 50 people were arrested for a wide variety of reasons, including underage drinking, fake IDs, and drugs.
