Morning Fire Destroys Albemarle County Home

An Albemarle County man is staying with relatives after an early morning fire destroyed his home.

A pile of charred debris is all that is left of a home on Jackson Drive in the Southwood mobile home community. The fire started just after 1:00 Saturday morning and crews remained on the scene for more than two hours.

The man who lives there was able to get out safely. Firefighters believe a lit candle in the bedroom may have sparked the blaze.
