In the final match of its spring season, the UVA women's soccer team beat the Philly Independence of the Women's Professional Soccer League 3-2 in an exhibition match Sunday afternoon at Scott Stadium.

The WPS is the top pro league in the United States, and the Philly roster includes former 'Hoos Lori Lindsey, Sinead Farrelly, and Meghan Lenczyk.

The Cavaliers finish their spring schedule 6-1.

Junior Caroline Miller scored twice for Virginia, including the game's first goal just over ten minutes into the match on a cross from Erica Hollenberg.

With about 2:00 to go in the first half, the Independence tied the match 1-1 when Nikki Krzysik scored off a Philly corner kick.

The 'Hoos scored the first two goals of the second half. Hollenberg sent a ball into the box that hit off Gloria Douglas to the streaking Miller, who chipped it over the keeper to put UVA up 2-1.

Later in the half on a corner kick, Douglas deflected a ball in the box to Molly Menchel. The sophomore buried the shot to give the Cavs a 3-1 lead.

Despite a penalty kick goal from Philly's Denesha Adams, the Wahoos held on for a 3-2 win.
