The town of Stanardsville is gearing up for a block party to prevent crime.
It's all part of the Stanardsville Area Community Safety Initiative. Organizers are planning a neighborhood walk and block party to raise awareness about safety, promote community activities, and develop new programs. The theme is "our town, our time."
Safety initiative organizer Ron Morris said, "When you really start thinking about it, the government, private sector and residents all working together make it a better community so our real hope is that folks come out, get to know each other and find out what people are doing about these problems."
Organizers hope neighbors will come together and talk openly about their concerns as well as find solutions so that Stanardsville can be a safer community. The block party is this upcoming Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.
