A crash involving several cars in Scottsville sent an elderly man to the hospital Friday morning.
Police say an 87-year-old Scottsville man was driving on James River Road when he reportedly went through the stop sign at Scottsville Road, and an SUV on Scottsville Road hit him. Both vehicles slid into a third vehicle.
Emergency crews flew the elderly man to the University of Virginia Medical Center with critical injuries. The woman driving the SUV has minor injuries.
James River Road was closed near the intersection with Scottsville Road. Traffic was re-routed while authorities investigate.
