The #23 Virginia baseball team will open up a three-game series with 8th ranked North Carolina this weekend at Davenport Field.
The 'Hoos and Heels are tied for second place in the ACC Coastal Division with a record of 9-6.
Virginia has won 12 of its last 14 games, but were swept by the Tar Heels in a three-game set in Chapel Hill last season.
Carolina is 24-9 overall this year, and rank 2nd in the conference with a 2.70 ERA.
UVA head coach Brian O'Connor says, "It's more about us coming out and playing good fundamental baseball, and hopefully we have success playing at home, because after this weekend we go on the road for two weekends. So we need to continue to take advantage of playing in our own ball park and hopefully that happens this weekend."
Virginia has won 15-straight games at home.
Senior first baseman Jared King says, "We always look forward to UNC every year. That's always a big series for us, especially after having that feeling after they swept us late last season down there. We'll be ready, but we're not going to put any added pressure on ourselves."
The first pitch is scheduled for Friday at 6pm at Davenport Field.
