Habitat for Humanity kicked off its weeklong advocacy series Act! Speak! Build! with an opening ceremony Monday night at the University of Virginia.
The week is full of events to help support the nonprofit to provide affordable housing.
"I think Habitat is a different service organization just in that you can see your results. They're so much more tangible," said UVA Habitat for Humanity Chapter President Lesley Luginbill. "You are working alongside a partner family who's going to be living in the house that you've raised money for."
Act! Speak! Build! week is also about advocacy and raising awareness on grounds. The week of events includes movie night and a flash mob.
