Festival of the Book Finishes on a Successful Note
The Virginia Festival of the Book wrapped up Sunday and organizers say it was a successful five days. One of the festival's final events was the Charlottesville Chapter of the Links Incorporated's annual celebration brunch at the Omni Hotel.
The group welcomed several African American authors who were on hand to discuss their books as well as share their inspirational words. Organizers are calling this year's festival the best yet.
Virginia Festival of the Book Program Director Nancy Damon said, "I think it's really important to say how important literacy is in all its form and to celebrate the written word, the spoken word and get people excited about reading."
Damon says book sellers reported a high volume of sales. This year's festival included 230 events across Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
