New Freshman Quarterback Hits the Field at UVA Spring Practice
In 2011, the UVA football team had five quarterbacks in spring practice, all battling for the starting job.
This year, there's still competition, but the depth chart among the three signal callers is a lot clearer.
Freshman Greyson Lambert is the third stringer. He's a 6'5" pro style quarterback who enrolled early at UVA this semester.
Lambert was the #1 quarterback prospect in the state of Georgia coming out of high school and chose Virginia over Alabama, Georgia, and Georgia Tech.
UVA rising junior quarterback Michael Rocco said, "Greyson's got a heck of an arm. He slings the ball out there. He's a little nervous at first, just having so much put on his shoulders right now, but we're going to help him along, and he's going to be fine by the end of this thing."
Lambert had 3.8 GPA in high school and plans to study business at UVA.
As for football, London says Lambert has a lot of potential but expects him to probably act a bit like a rookie.
London said, "That kind of height, and he's got an impressive arm. That's why he's here. He's got a big arm. I think he'll be a good quarterback when his time comes."
