The NBC29 newsroom received the following press release from the Town of Culpeper:
The Culpeper Police Department needs the public's help identifying a person of interest in an alleged theft of a wallet and cash, Sunday, Mar. 11.
About 7:50 p.m., a customer made a purchase at Mosby Meadow Market in the 1400 block of North Main Street. He inadvertently left his wallet containing a large amount of cash on the counter.
The white male in the photo allegedly was seen rummaging through the wallet, and thumbing through the currency.
Surveillance video captured the incident. The still photo of the subject is taken from that video.
After allegedly taking the wallet, the man drove off in a compact car.
Anyone with information that may help identify the man may anonymously call Crime Solvers at 540-727-0300, where callers never have to give their name or testify in court to earn a cash reward. Callers may also contact Detective Luke Altman at 540-829-5507.
