Albemarle Police Investigate GameStop Armed Robbery

Albemarle County Police are searching for a man who they say held up the GameStop store at gunpoint.

Police say around 1:00 Tuesday afternoon the suspect, a male in his early twenties, displayed a black pistol, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured at the store, located at the intersection of Seminole Trail and Rio Road.

They say he is around six feet tall and was wearing a black polo and jeans. Police are reviewing footage from the store's security cameras. If you have any information, Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. 


The NBC29 newsroom received the following press release regarding the robbery.

The Albemarle County Police responded to the Game Stop, located at 1646, Suite 104, Seminole Trail, for a reported armed robbery at approximately 1:10 P.M. this afternoon.

A store employee described a black male, between 5'11" and 6'02", wearing a black polo shirt and blue jeans entered the store wielding a gun and demanded cash.  The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
