A homeless shelter in downtown Charlottesville is celebrating a new piece of art. A sculpture was unveiled at The Haven in Charlottesville Thursday.
The metal sculpture was a pro-bono work that now sits in front of The Haven.
The piece took about three months to make and is meant to represent people coming together for change in the community.
Sculpture artist Edward Pelton said, "The sculpture, really for me, is based on people sort of working together to sort of lift things up and get things going and to make progress."
The artist has worked for patrons worldwide but says he likes doing public work whenever he can to share his art with those who may not be able to afford to own it.
