A new organization is raising money for the families of fallen law enforcement officers.
The I-6:8 Foundation is a non-profit founded last June. It's working to raise money for its national campaign to support law enforcement families.
Rob Heide is president and founder of I-6:8 and said when an officer is killed in the line of duty, I-6:8 will donate a $2,500 check to the officer's family to pay bills and expenses.
"It's a small amount in the big picture but it will bridge a gap between the actual time of the event and when other benefits kick in to help them with those things you just don't expect," Heide said.
I-6:8 hopes to raise enough money to begin distributing donations by next January.
