The #1 ranked UVA men's lacrosse team got two goals and five assists from Steele Stanwick as the Cavaliers beat VMI 19-6.
Matt White and Mark Cockerton each had three goals.
Mark's brother, Matt, scored two goals as did Chris Bocklet, Owen Van Arsdale, and Colin Briggs.
Ten different 'Hoos had goals in the game.
Virginia is now 19-0 all-time against VMI. The Cavaliers improve to 2-0 on the season, winning their fifth-straight home opener.
The victory comes just days after Wahoo head coach Dom Starsia signed a new five-year contract with UVA.
Starsia says, " I'm very proud to be here at UVA. I'm very humbled by the length of our relationship. It's been a great fit for me and my family. I'm really pleased that we're going to be able to continue it. I really still enjoy it."
Starsia has led Virginia to four national championships during his 20 years as coach of the Cavs.
UVA's next game is at home Saturday against Stony Brook at noon. ESPN3.com will broadcast the game online.
