The #25 UVA men's basketball team beat Virginia Tech 61-59 Tuesday night at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, evening the season series after the Hokies beat the 'Hoos 47-45 at John Paul Jones Arena January 22.
Nine of the last ten games in the series have been decided by seven points or less.
Virginia improves to 21-6 overall, 8-5 in the ACC this season, and is now 17-0 when scoring at least 60 points in a game this year.
Tech drops to 15-13 overall, 4-9 in ACC play on the season.
UVA senior Mike Scott led all players with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Despite both fouling out, Cavalier guards Sammy Zeglinski and Jontel Evans each scored 13 points. Zeglinski pulled down six rebounds. Evans dished out a game-high five assists.
Erick Green led the Hokies with 19 points, but he's the only Tech player to score in double figures.
Senior Dorenzo Hudson added nine points in the loss.
Dorian Finney-Smith and Marquis Rankin both scored eight points for the Hokies.
Virginia Tech led by as many as nine in the first half and 35-32 at the break. UVA rallied and led by as many as eight points in the second half.
The Cavaliers hit 25-of-42 from the field (59.5%), including 6-of-15 (40%) from three-point range.
Tech made 18-of-40 (45%) from the field and 8-of-16 (50%) from long range.
The Wahoos outrebounded the Hokies 24-21.
Virginia returns to action Saturday afternoon. The Cavs host North Carolina at 4:00 at John Paul Jones Arena, which is sold out for the game. ESPN will televise it.
