Charlottesville business leaders are learning what it takes to reduce their waste. It's part of the ongoing Better Business Challenge competition. It asks businesses to become more sustainable.
As part of an ongoing lunch and learn series, businesses came together to discuss cutting waste out of the equation, and increasing recycling efforts.
Teri Kent with the Better Business Challenge said, "We've talked about lighting, we've talked about energy efficiency, today we're talking about waste in purchasing. All of this is related to the scorecard where businesses are getting points for attending the events; they're getting points for implementing actions."
There are 105 businesses competing for the title of most sustainable. The competition ends May 15.
