Representative Robert Hurt celebrated Presidents Day with a past commander in chief. The 5th District congressman took a tour of Ash Lawn with James Monroe himself.
Hurt is traveling around the district all week to let people know what's going on in Washington D.C. While the biggest issue continues to be the budget, he says energy prices are also on his mind.
"That would reduce the cost of energy, would create tens of thousands of jobs in the short term, hundreds of thousands of jobs in the long term, and also at the same time, very significantly reduce our dependence on foreign dictators for our energy resources," stated Hurt.
Hurt says he was happy to hear President Barack Obama's plans to work on energy prices in the State of the Union address. He says fuel prices are burdening people in the 5th District, and he's seen a lot of proposals to address the issue.
