Virginia Blood Services hosted its biannual Broadcasters for Blood Drive Monday. The event at the MLK Performing Arts Center in Charlottesville ends at 7:00 Monday night.
Organizers say as summer approaches the need for additional donations will rise and this is a great way to give something beyond time and money.
"You're actually giving a part of yourself to help another human being extend their life, spend another day with their family so it's a great feeling for yourself and also for community members," said Marly Fausz of Virginia Blood Services.
NBC29 is a proud sponsor of Broadcasters for Blood. Virginia Blood Services is the sole provider of blood to 33 hospitals throughout central Virginia including the University of Virginia Medical Center and Martha Jefferson Hospital.
