2 Charlottesville Men Arrested on Felony Drug Charges

Two Charlottesville men face felony drug charges after police in Albemarle County say they confiscated marijuana and cocaine from their car.

Police arrested 19-year-old Daronta Laron Chambers and 22-year-old Brian Cortez Jackson early Thursday morning on Belvedere Boulevard.

Police say they found a substantial amount of the drugs.

Chambers is also charged with felony possession of counterfeit money.

On February 16, 2012 at approximately 2:20 a.m., Officer T. Carrico stopped a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Belvedere Boulevard and East Rio Road.  Further investigation of the two males in the vehicle revealed that there were outstanding warrants against one of the individuals, identified as 19-year-old Daronta Laron Chambers of Charlottesville.

A substantial amount of marijuana and cocaine was confiscated, along with several hundred dollars in cash and several counterfeit bills.  Chambers and 22-year-old Brian Cortez Jackson, also of Charlottesville, were arrested and transported to the Albemarle - Charlottesville Regional Jail where they both went before a magistrate.  Warrants were obtained and served against both men for felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Chambers is also charged with felony possessing counterfeit money.

Both men were held for a bond hearing.
