Students in Greene County are jump roping, hula hooping and shooting their way to a heart healthy lifestyle. They are doing it all while raising money for the American Heart Association.
Teachers at Ruckersville Elementary say students are learning the importance of a healthy living while raising their heart rates.
They are half-way through Jump Rope for Heart in combination with Hoops for Heart, both events focus on the importance of a heart healthy lifestyle, and will finish next Friday.
Ruckersville Elementary gym teacher Tim Thomas said, "We're trying to encourage that continual cycle as they move through school to keep moving basically and getting their heart rates up and getting their hearts stronger."
Ruckersville Elementary has already raised over $4,000 for the American Heart Association.
