The brand-new Fluvanna County high school lacrosse teams received a big boost Thursday night during a presentation in the school's library.
After six years of fielding a club-level team, the Flucos will have both boys and girls varsity and JV teams this season.
Supporters of the program were able to raise over $13,000 to help get the teams started.
A grant from US Lacrosse also outfitted the Flucos with full equipment.
Senior Bryan Werley says, "Just having all that new gear, it put the little emotion in the back of your head that you have to play hard for all the people that worked to get this thing going."
Boys head coach Rich Little says, "It's just an unbelievable opportunity for these kids. They're probably going to be some of the kids around town, with the least amount of experience."
Fluvanna County will play a full district schedule this season.
Tryouts begin next week, with the first game is school history on March 13th.
