More than 200 people spent Thursday behind bars in Albemarle County. The Bonefish Grill transformed into a make-shift jail for the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up.
The event takes in unlikely inmates who have to raise money for muscular dystrophy to bail themselves out.
Michelle Miles, an MDA recipient says, "It means so much to me that people would want to donate for this. I've had so many positive experiences as a result I've gone to the MDA summer camp for 5 years now and have met some really close friends."
It costs $800 to send just one kid to camp, so organizers say that is why the MDA Lock-Up is so important.
MDA hopes to bring in more than $100,000 from Thursday's fundraiser. All money raised stays local.
