Black Knights Celebrate Upset win over Fluvanna

The Charlottesville HS boys basketball team upset top seed Fluvanna in the Jefferson District Tournament semifinals Wednesday 74-65 keeping their season alive. 

Charlottesville, the 4-seed in the tournament, got a game high 25 points from Darius Watson.  Daquan Jones had 16 and Damarcus Scott had 15.   YaYa Anderson had a team high 19 points for Fluvanna.

CHS head coach, Mitch Minor said, "The guys knew what was at stake, if we won we're going to keep on going, if we lose we're going to be done for the year and we didn't want to be done.

Watson said, "We hustled, we rebounded, we took away their best player in YaYa, and we just made easy baskets."

Charlottesville will play Western Albemarle in the district finals on Friday.   WAHS beat Monticello in the other semifinal game on Wednesday 73-62.   The Warriors got a team high 20 points from Parker Morris.

In other boys basketball action, Blue Ridge beat STAB 51-36.
