A program in Orange County is linking elementary school students with mentors across the county. Monday morning, Breakfast Buddies met over what many consider the most important meal of the day.
Around a dozen Gordon-Barbour Elementary students were paired with mentors around Orange County to help with homework over breakfast or simply be a positive role model.
Mentors range from business owners to workers, police officers, and parents. They all are working towards the goal to make a difference in the lives of Orange County youth.
Breakfast Buddies Coordinator Alan Drinkwater said, "The overall goal of the program is to develop a relationship between the school and the community and to foster an outreach program for the children."
Last year, the program was cut due to a lack of funding. This year, Drinkwater stepped in to get the program back up and running.
Breakfast Buddies organizers say they are always looking for more volunteers. Click here if you're interested in becoming a buddy and getting more information.
