Charlottesville Grandmother Receives Car Donation

Posted: Updated:

A Charlottesville grandmother has a new ride thanks to Battlefield Ford, State Farm, and the Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA). State Farm agent Hunter Wyant handed over the keys to a Mercury Sable to Judy White on Monday morning.

White's grandson earned a scholarship to St. Anne's-Belfield, but the family lives in downtown Charlottesville which makes getting him to and from school a challenge.  White worked with MACAA to receive the donated car.

"It's going to change a lot. For one thing, it's relieving a lot of stress," said White. "To be able to just get up and go to the grocery store or go pay bills or pick up my grandson and take him to school, it's just a wonderful feeling."

White has never owned a car. She took the Sable for a spin around the dealership parking lot Monday and says it's a great drive.  She calls this donation a blessing and a miracle.  She thanked State Farm, Battlefield Ford, and MACCAA for helping her out.
