A Charlottesville shelter says right now it doesn't have enough funding to get through the winter.
People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry (PACEM) said the organization needs $10,000 to continue through the winter. Tough economic times have more people turning to homeless shelters for help.
Colleen Keller is the executive director of PACEM and said keeping up with the demand isn't easy. "We've been referring to overflow about half the nights this season. So we still have a ways to go this winter but there's also this aspect of sort of great hope," she said.
PACEM is made up of more than 60 congregations in Charlottesville that provide a warm place to stay and serve meals to the area's homeless.
