The #9 Virginia women's tennis team lost 4-2 against #5 Baylor Sunday in the consolation bracket of the ITA National Team Indoor tournament at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
UVA won the doubles point, as Emily Fraser and Li Xi won 8-0, and Maria Fuccillo and Lindsey Hardenbergh won 8-2.
The Bears bounced back with straight set wins at #4 and #3 singles to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
UVA junior Erin Vierra cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win in #5 singles to tie the match up at 2.
Baylor regained the lead when Nina Secerbegovic beat Hardenbergh 6-2, 7-5 in #2 singles.
Fraser was leading her #1 singles match 6-5 in the third set, when Ema Burgic beat Caryssa Peretz 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) in #5 singles to clinch the match for Baylor.
The Cavaliers and Bears started late due to other matches being played before them in the tournament, and Baylor and UVA did not finish up until close to midnight.
The tournament concludes Monday with the finals at 11 AM at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
