Virginia consumers are more confident and willing to drop dollars on big ticket items right now than they were this time last year. That's according to the new Virginia Index of Current Conditions.
The survey took a look at household financial situations over the past year. Twenty-eight percent of Virginians report they are better off financially. In addition, they are more willing to buy products like televisions and furniture.
The Crutchfield store in Charlottesville notices this shift. Shawn Pendleton of Crutchfield said, "Normally people are pretty reserved at making big ticket purchases, but right now people are feeling confident so they're coming in and their buying the larger ticket items"
Sales are up at stores like Crutchfield because as the index finds, 48 percent of Virginians feel now is a good time to buy due to lower prices.
