Junior point guard Tarik Hislop hit the game-winning shot with 1:09 to play, as James Madison won 65-64 at CAA rival Virginia Commonwealth Sunday.
The Dukes have beaten the Rams nine-straight times.
Hislop scored 12 points and added 7 assists, while former Turner Ashby star Kirby Burkholder added 15 points.
Charlottesville-native Andrea Barbour scored 16 points for the Rams, while teammate Courtney Hurt added 17 points and 19 rebounds.
James Madison is now 11-and-3 in the CAA, and remain in sole possession of second place in the conference.
The Dukes will be back at home Thursday, as they host UNCW at 7pm.
