Republican Senate candidate George Allen was up early Saturday morning sharing his campaign goals with GOP voters in Albemarle County. Party members packed into the Double Tree Hotel for the party's monthly breakfast.
Allen says he plans to focus his campaign on creating more jobs, especially for students right out of college. And he's calling for congress to pass laws so Americans can have more affordable oil and energy.
"The attitude we need to have now is we need to be sending a message to the world that America is open for business again - on these economic, energy and other matters," said Allen.
The candidate took questions from the crowd and party leaders encouraged members to get involved in the Senate campaign. Allen is the party's front-runner to face Democratic former Governor Tim Kaine.
