The #19 Virginia men's basketball team lost 70-52 Saturday on the road at #5 North Carolina.
The Tar Heels are just the second team this season to score more than 61 points against the Cavaliers, and are the first ACC team to accomplish the feat.
UVA (19-5, 6-4 ACC) came into the game allowing an conference 51.1 points per game.
The Wahoos led by as many as seven points in the 1st half in Chapel Hill, and trailed 35-32 at halftime.
Back-to-back three pointers by Joe Harris game Virginia a 40-37 lead early in the 2nd, but UNC blew the game open with a 22-to-5 run, and the 'Hoos never got closer than 11 after the scoring spurt.
Head coach Tony Bennett says, "As the game wore on we got tired, and it affected us mentally with our execution. We got...'Soft' isn't the right word, but we didn't have the same kind of toughness and focus that was required, and we had early, and we have to learn to play in that situation."
Mike Scott led UVA with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Jontel Evans chipped in 12 points.
Virginia returns to action Tuesday, as they play at Clemson at 7pm.
