Eight Monticello High School basketball players served a one game suspension Thursday night for leaving the bench during a game with Charlottesville Tuesday. Playing without the eight players, Monticello lost to George Wythe 58-57.
Video replay determined that there were was no punching or fighting during the scuffle among Charlottesville and Monticello players during that game on Tuesday. The one game suspension was mandatory for the Monticello players who left the bench.
Monticello will have all of their players eligible for Wednesday night's district semifinal game at Western Albemarle HS against the winner of WAHS and Powhatan.
No Charlottesville players were suspended.
