A fifth grader at Cale Elementary in Albemarle County is being honored for financing a well that will supply water to a village in Ethiopia.
Logan Ratzlaff is receiving The Prudential Spirit Of Community Award.
Ratzlaff held different fundraisers, like lemonade stands, to finance a $5,000 well in Ethiopia.
"They're going to build a well in Ethiopia that will give 300 people clean water for 20 years" says Logan Ratzlaff.
Only two people in Virginia are receiving this nod and it comes with a President's Volunteer Service Award Certificate and letter from Barrack Obama.
Ratzlaff will receive $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. for his service.
