Driver Airlifted from Crimora Crash

Augusta County rescue crews spent nearly an hour cutting 36-year-old Michael Shane Floyd of Waynesboro, from the cab of his twisted truck after it ran off the road and slammed into trees.

The accident happened around 7:30 Sunday evening on Route 340 near Thoroughfare Road in Crimora. A witness says the driver of the Ford F-250 pickup suddenly veered across the oncoming lane of traffic before crashing.

A chopper waited nearby to fly the victim to the University of Virginia Medical Center. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
