The #16/18 UVA men's basketball team lost to #21/24 Florida State 58-55 in Tallahassee Saturday afternoon, its 15th straight loss in the state of Florida dating back to 2001.

Virginia drops to 18-4 overall, 5-3 in the ACC. UVA's four loses have come by a combined then points.

The Seminoles (16-6, 7-1 ACC) have won seven straight conference games for the first time in the ACC and remain in a tie atop the conference standings with North Carolina and Duke.

FSU led by as many as seven in first half, 23-22 at the break, used a 12-2 second-half run to turn a three-point lead into a 13-point margin.

The Cavaliers answered with a 14-0 run to take a 45-44 lead with under 4:41 to play.

The 'Hoos had a shot to tie down three in the final 20 seconds, but a three-point attempt from Joe Harris missed.

Harris finished with 16 points and five rebounds in the loss.

UVA senior Mike Scott also scored 16 points (12 in the first half) and grabbed a game-high eleven rebounds.

Freshman Malcolm Brogdon added ten points off the bench for the Wahoos.

Junior point guard Jontel Evans contributed eight points and a game-high five assists for the Cavs.

The 'Hoos forced 19 turnovers but had a season-high 20 of their own.

UVA head coach Tony Bennett said, "You made a statement of the kind of heart you have, and the fight you have in you, and that's good, but we also made a statement that we have to clean up some of these turnovers and be more efficient to play against a team like this, because baskets aren't easy to come by, and there's a stretch where we looked very poor."

Virginia has lost six straight to FSU overall and nine straight in Tallahassee dating back to 2001.

The Cavaliers had their three-game winning streak snapped and return to action Wednesday night. UVA hosts Wake Forest at 7:30. Regional Sports Networks will televise it.
