Friday afternoon the University of Virginia's Miller Center hosted a forum led by author and Harvard professor Theda Skocpol. Skocpol recently authored a book about the effects of the Tea Party movement on the Republican Party.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions on subjects ranging from U.S. public policy to the coming election. Skocpol says that the main goal of her forums are to talk about topics that affect everyday Americans.
Skocpol said, "I care about American politics and what the disputes are and where we are headed as a country. I like to understand things that I don't understand at first glance; I didn't understand the Tea Party at first glance."
She hopes that readers will understand the big picture of the Tea Party and how it fits into the Republican Party.
