One Virginia delegate wants to make banks pay up if they make mistakes on home foreclosures.
Republican Delegate Bob Marshall has introduced legislation that would require banks to pay a homeowner's legal expenses if a judge finds that bank wrongfully foreclosed on the home.
"Very often, when homeowners are told they're doing a loan modification, the banks foreclose anyway. They just suck all the money out of the people and say 'oh, too bad,'" Marshall said.
That legislation, along with another bill that sets outs new rules for how banks should perform a foreclosure, await committee votes in the General Assembly.
