More than 100 students could soon be moved to another school in Albemarle County. A citizens advisory committee has made the recommendation to the Albemarle County school superintendent.
The plan would move 134 students from Hollymead Elementary, and put them in Baker-Butler Elementary beginning in August.
Josh Davis with Albemarle County Schools said, "We consider that to be an acute overcrowding problem with students in trailers, and faculty working out of essentially closet-style materials with children going to lunch between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.."
Right now, Hollymead Elementary is over capacity by 83 students. Baker-Butler has room for more than 200 students. The school board will make the final decision in March.
