
Despite the best efforts of the Virginia Wildlife Center, another bald eagle has died from lead poisoning.
The hospital in Waynesboro treated an eagle that was found in Manassas earlier this week. Vets found its lead toxicity levels were higher than their machines could measure. The eagle died Thursday afternoon.
These cases often result from birds of prey feeding on animals that were killed and left behind. The center urges hunters to buy shot made from non-toxic steel or copper.
