Former UVA basketball player James Johnson is returning to his home state, announcing he will transfer to San Diego State. The 6 foot 10 sophomore left the Virginia basketball program in December due to lack of playing time. He only played in 6 games this season for UVA.
Johnson told the San Diego Union-Tribune, "I wanted to come to a place where I could grow my game and grow as a person."
Johnson was a top-100 player coming out of high school choosing UVA over Cal, Arizona and Oklahoma. Johnson will have to sit out two semesters and will begin playing for the Aztecs in December. Johnson is from Wildomar, California.
